Getting warmer

So I have been working on this project for Paper Magazine. Interesting stuff on Design. Fun and Quirky the way it should be if you enjoy photography the way I do. Here are some samples of the design elements. A pen used by a well know architect. This is the beginning of a section in the magazine that is about peoples favorite things.
So its going for a fetishized little box special object look in the second shot. I have a new storytellers section on my site. www.donaldbowersphoto.com. In the first portrait section I have added some stories to my images, as opposed to just the sliding animated menu select the rest of the site offers. However some people cant read the words. They don't come up on their computers. I wish I knew why. I think it has something to do with flash and exporting text? I don't know........

Having fun!

So my German friend, Grit is amazing. She and I have been trading assignments online. Can I just say that yahoo messenger allows you to chat, have video, speak to one another and send pictures for free? Imagine when you were a kid in the early 80s that one day you could do all of this for free and chat with someone in Germany while you were in freaking upstate NY? It really brings the world to you. So easy you almost take it for granted. What a fun time with all of this.
So here are some images that have been fun to produce. Not for money or a job but just for fun. Its nice to have a muse and be a muse. Never had that opportunity before.
I like the lighting on this. Kinda messed with a bit on Photoshop. Reminds me of Terry Richardsons stuff a bit. But without the modeling light.

This is Grit.

"pros vs. joes"-Atlanta Braves Pitcher John Rocker Shoot

Yesterday morning: 6:30 am. Wow. In Bryant Park to shoot Atlanta Braves pitcher John Rocker for a kick off event for this new show on Spike. The pros vs the joes. They built a $3,000 batting cage for 7 lucky new york winners to try a bat against a professional baseball pitcher. This is the guy who in the past made remarks about New York City and the number 7 line subway (interestingly enough) in an unfavorable way. But apparently that was taken out of context like I suppose anything could be. Here is a shot of him being a great sport about it all.

Here is a picture of him pitching and some people at bat to really get a scale of how they produced this job. It was very cool.

Long day of shooting. I talked to John at one point and he said how tired he was as well. Gotta be hard to throw 2 hours worth of 85 MPH fast balls. Shots look great!

Another Donald Trump Related Photo Shoot!?!?!?

I shoot a wide range of Cocktails yesterday at the World Bar which is attached to Trump World Tower. That's the connection. So its been 3 months in a row of Donald Trump related photography for me. Just thought that was interesting. Here are my 3 favorite drinks from the 20 I shot yesterday:

I worked with a new assistant. Her name is Jenny Ross, she is new to assisting but very friendly and ready to learn. Here is her email address: jenny_k_ross@yahoo.com. I want to go back to Costa Rica for a month and live in a tent in Monte Verde.
